3 Ways to Help Charities without Spending Money

It goes without saying that charities need help more than ever. However, with the current recession causing people’s budgets to tighten, they have stopped giving as much as they used to.

With that said, you should also know that you can help charities without having to shell a large sum of money by being a blood donor, doing volunteer work and there are several possibilities for those still wish to give.

So here are 3 ways by which you can help charities without spending money:

#1: Give Time

Volunteering at a hospital, working in a soup kitchen or making dinner for the sick are excellent ways by which you can give your time. Best part: it costs little or nothing.

Better still: find a friend to accompany you and it would be twice as much fun too.

#2: Clean out your Closet

Several charities often ask for used items such as CDs, books, clothes and so on and  so forth – and which don’t cost very much either. All you have to do is empty your closet of things that you don’t need and not only will this make some needy people happy but it will also result in a cleaner home – especially of things you don’t need.

#3: Study and develop a plan to give to your selected cause

The best givers are people who are knowledgeable about their cause and this can be done by reading, traveling or even volunteering for the cause itself. Once you understand the importance of supporting your cause, you end up understanding the importance of supporting them.

Better still, and armed with this knowledge, devoting your time or energy, by means of a plan, comes naturally – and really shows how committed you are to this cause.
