3 Tips for 30-Year Olds to Get Their Finances In Order

Not long ago 30-year olds were already working in steady jobs, had a family and earning a decent income. Considering the events in this decade, all that has changed – and drastically too.

Not only are people in this age group taking longer to find successful careers but also delaying marriage, considering the financial pressures it brings with it.

So, how should we go about getting our finances in order?

Keeping that in mind, here are 3 tips that can help us do just that:

#1: Say No to Wasteful Expenditure

By the time you are in your thirties, make sure you are spending money on things that you find useful but that mean something to you. There’s no point being irresponsible with money like you were in your twenties. Use tools offered by Mint.com or ones provided by your bank in order to make progress financially.

#2: Understand How Valuable Time Is

The day you realize your mortality, things change. Simplify your financial expenditure by not only automating all your transactions but also taking steps to prevent identity theft too. Stay on top of all your financial statements and no matter what you do, avoid giving your Social Security number online.

#3: Invest in Yourself

This is probably one of the most important aspects to consider in your thirties. Are there any goals or dreams that fell by the wayside in your twenties? Also, ask yourself where you would like to be five or ten years from now, and work towards it. Take additional education or training in order to get to where you want to go. In other words, invest in yourself. You can make it work with the education and work experience you have gained already.
